Whey Protein Recipes

Summer is around the corner and the warm weather and longer days bring along some guilty pleasures… like ice cream and frappuccinos. A number of years ago our family actually began diluting down our ice cream with milk — creating more of a milkshake, and reducing the sweetness and the amount of ice cream consumed. Now we add a few scoops of Raw Organic Whey as well – creamy, delicious and protein rich.  We used Java Chip Frappuccino Ice Cream in this recipe, but you can use any flavor you prefer.

Ingredients

Protein Rich Frapp
(proportions are flexible)
6-8 oz organic milk
 1/4-1/2 cup of ice cream
3 tbsp Raw Organic Whey

Directions

Blend and enjoy!

Ingredients:

5 Tablespoons Raw Organic Whey protein powder
5 Tablespoons unsalted organic pistachios (unshelled)
2 cups organic milk
1/4 tsp almond flavor
dash or so of stevia to your desired sweetness
5 ice cubes

Directions:

Place pistachios in a food processor and blend pistachios until ground into a powder. Add remaining ingredients into blender and blend until smooth.

Pistachios have been shown to reduce LDL (“bad”) cholesterol and increase the good HDL cholesterol after only a short period of regular consumption. They are also high in antioxidants, fight inflammation and reduce risk of heart disease.*

INGREDIENTS:

1 cup of organic milk
(or dairy alternative)
4-5 tbsp raw organic whey
10 strawberries
2 tbsp rosewater
dash of stevia or a few dates (sweeten to taste)

Blend and enjoy! Optional – dust with unsweetened cocoa.

With just a hint of Himalayan pink salt, this high protein nutrient-rich smoothie satisfies sweet, salty and chocolate cravings!

Ingredients:

1 cup of organic milk (or dairy alternative)
4-5 tbsp Raw Organic Whey protein
2 tbsp dutch-processed cocoa
1 small ripe banana
1/16 tsp pink salt
dash of stevia

Directions:

Place everything in your blender and blend until smooth. Feel free to add some ice if you’d like a colder, slushier smoothie. Indulge in your health!

These protein bombs are dangerously delicious!

We received this recipe from our friend,  Amy.  She made a variation of these for me when I was in labor earlier this year with my son, Liam, and they were incredibly nourishing and sustaining.  They keep great in the freezer — so make a batch and keep them on hand for post-workout treats or an afternoon boost at the office.

Ingredients:

1/2 cup pistachios
8 dates
2 tbs cashew butter
1 tbs coconut oil
1 tbs honey
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup Raw Organic Whey

Directions:

Place pistachios & dates in the blender, pulse until coarsely chopped. Add remaining ingredients and blend until a soft dough forms. Remove dough from blender and form into 1″ balls. Store in refrigerator.

A healthy, high protein, nutrient-rich treat. A perfect on-the-go snack for when the busy modern lifestyle requires an extra energy boost.

I found this recipe for Dark Chocolate Blueberry Protein and Spinach Smoothie on Green Lite Bites and it’s my new favorite. Ingredients list is below — simply through it all in a blend and enjoy. You may want to add a dash of stevia powder or a banana if you like your smoothies a little sweeter.

2 cups raw organic spinach (I added a bit more)
1 cup frozen organic blueberries (can be any berry if you don’t have blueberries on hand)
1 serving of Raw Organic Whey
2 tbsp organic dutch press dark cocoa powder
4-6 oz of unsweetened almond milk (or your milk of choice)

What I like most about this blend is there’s enough rich cocoa taste to satisfy my cravings while delivering balanced nutrition and clean, even sustained energy. I felt noticeable good for a while after this drink.

Sometimes it’s nice to mix it up a bit and use something other than milk or water for your protein shakes. This recipe uses freshly juiced carrots, coconut flakes and organic whey powder. This combination might sound a little strange at first, but don’t be fooled, it actually tastes great! The creaminess of the whey works well with the richness of the carrot juice and coconut. Carrot juice is rich in beta-carotene, which is good for your vision and also acts as an antioxidant to prevent aging and give you healthy, glowing skin.

Ingredients

5 Tablespoons Raw Organic Whey
2 Tablespoons organic coconut flakes
2 cups organic carrot juice (freshly juiced)

Method

Place all ingredients in a blender and mix until smooth. Serve and enjoy!

Our Raw Organic Whey pure protein lends itself to many delicious experiments in the kitchen. Here’s a simple way to get a quick, crunchy, chocolate fix, low in sugar and loaded with nutritious protein.

Ingredients

10 tbsp Organic Raw Whey
10 tbsp organic puffed quinoa
4 tbsp organic cocoa powder
3 tbsp organic coconut oil
1 tbsp honey
1 tbsp maple syrup
1tsp vanilla
pinch of Himalayan pink salt

Process

Melt coconut oil and honey over very low heat just long enough to bring from solid to liquid. Remove from heat. Combine cocoa, maple syrup, vanilla, salt and whey. Then add in puffed quinoa. The mixture should be dry enough to easily form into balls(or you can press into a baking dish if you prefer to make bars). Allow to set by placing in the refrigerator or freezer. Makes about 10-12 balls or 3-4 servings (we couldn’t eat just one).

1 small banana
3 large organic chard leaves
2 hand fulls of fresh organic spinach
1/2 cup water
